Iron IV Infusions in Birmingham
Is an Iron Infusion right for you?
Do you experience symptoms like persistent tiredness, heart palpitations, paler skin and shortness of breath during your regular activities? These can all be indicators of iron deficiency, a condition that occurs when your body doesn’t have enough iron to make haemoglobin, preventing your body from getting enough oxygen to your tissues and organs to effectively meet their needs.
Iron tablets are a common treatment for iron deficiency, but some people can find them hard to tolerate as they can irritate the lining of the stomach. Iron infusions are a great alternative as they administer iron straight into the bloodstream.
At Complete Clinical Care, we look at your health as a whole, help you figure out the cause of your iron deficiency and recommend the best treatment for you.
Tiredness & Low Energy Learn more Back
Iron deficiency can leave you feeling tired and lacking energy. If it leads to anaemia, your blood carries less oxygen around your body, which can make everyday tasks feel harder. Persistent tiredness has many possible causes, so a clinical assessment can help identify what is behind it.
Shortness of Breath Learn more Back
Iron-deficiency anaemia can make you feel more breathless when walking, climbing stairs or exercising. This can happen when your blood cannot carry enough oxygen to meet your body's needs. New or worsening breathlessness should be assessed rather than assumed to be caused by low iron.
Heart Palpitations Learn more Back
Noticeable heartbeats can occur with iron-deficiency anaemia as your heart works harder to supply oxygen around your body. Palpitations can also have other causes. If they keep happening, become more frequent or last longer than a few minutes, seek medical advice.
Paler Skin Learn more Back
Reduced haemoglobin in iron-deficiency anaemia can cause paleness. Depending on your skin tone, this may be more noticeable inside your lower eyelids or on your palms. Appearance alone cannot confirm iron deficiency; blood tests and a clinical assessment help establish the cause.
These symptoms can occur with iron-deficiency anaemia, but can also have other causes. An assessment and blood tests can help establish whether you are iron deficient and which treatment is appropriate. An iron infusion is not suitable for everyone.
